Theresa is a self taught artist from Ashland Nebraska who has traveled and lived in countries such as Okinawa, Japan. After returning home she started teaching art to special needs teens. This rekindled her life long love of art and sparked an ambition to learn, create and teach art on another level. Theresa’s colored pencil work is realistic in nature. Also she has been developing her flush heavy impasto paintings.
I work in many mediums such as Gourd Art, Colored Pencil and Acrylic. I started a series I call Lush. It involves creating lush, highly textured acrylic paintings. I want my audience not to be able to resist touching and feeling the textures on the canvas. These paintings compete with the viewers senses of sight and touch in a symbiotic dance. In opposition, my color pencil pieces are highly realistic. They reflect midwestern themes such as the powwows I love to attend while others I capture the reflective surfaces of cars and motorcycles in an almost photographic sense.
